What to Consider When Choosing Glasses

April 22, 2021 Posted by Kat Cook Uncategorized

Hooray! You’ve just realized you need glasses! Either that, or you are looking to upgrade with a new prescription. Choosing a pair of glasses is an important decision. Your glasses go everywhere you go, so it’s good to take some time to consider comfort, style, and convenience.

Prescription

Let’s start at the very beginning. The very first step when getting glasses, is, of course, getting your correct prescription. If you have an incorrect prescription, everything else will be pointless. If you are experiencing blurred vision, don’t settle for drugstore reading glasses. Go to a professional and get a vision test. The doctor will be able to determine the exact prescription that will have you seeing crystal clear.

Comfort

Once you know your prescription, it’s time to think about comfort. Your glasses will be sitting on your face a lot, so if they are uncomfortable, you are setting yourself up for a bad time. If possible, try on a pair of glasses before you buy them. Consider the weight. Are they too heavy? Will they make your ears or nose tired? Are they too light? Will they slip down, or fly off if you turn your head? Find the perfect weight that is comfortable and secure.

Convenience

Next is convenience. Your lifestyle can greatly affect your needs in a pair of glasses. If you are a very physical person, you may want to consider getting a more durable pair of glasses. Some glasses are built to flex and bend, so if you are hiking or playing basketball, they are less likely to snap or break. If you spend a lot of time in front of a screen, you may want to look into light blocker glasses, or gaming glasses that will enhance your experience and protect your eyes. There are many ways to make your glasses fit perfectly into your lifestyle.

Style

Finally, think about style. Your glasses are one of the first things a person sees when they look into your face. Your choice in eyewear can say a lot about you, so consider what you want people to see when they look at you. Choose a color and shape that is complementary to your face shape and skin tone. A fun pattern or embellishment can add a little spunk to your look. Portray something more sleek and professional with business savvy or sensible glasses. People who wear glasses are lucky that they get an extra opportunity to express themselves in this way. Have fun with it!
